Menendez’s Bali Women Painting Exhibition

Diego Menendez, an Argentinean painter who has lived in Paris since 1981, presenting his 48 works which mostly portraits Bali women at Duta Fine Arts Foundation.

The exhibition was opened by Argentinean Ambassador to Indonesia Javier Sanz de Urquiza on Dec. 12 and will run until Jan. 12, 2008.

Diego Menendez (51), who came at the opening said that one of his favorite objects is women and Indonesian women especially from Bali are typically reserved and deep in expression.

Menendez came to Bali first time in 1996, then he start to produce his works which potrait various scene in Bali such as Forest, Sanur Beach Offering, Tanah Lot and Besakih. His works blend South American Colour design with mystical and beauties of Bali island. 

It is Menendez’s sixth exhibition in Indonesia since he first showed in Bali in 1996, followed up with 1997, 2002 and 2004 exhibitions in Jakarta and 2005 in Surabaya.
