Holcim to Invest IDR 4,6 Trillion in Indonesia by 2009

PT Holcim Indonesia Tbk, a subsidiary of Switzerland-based cement company, plans to invest IDR 4,6 trillion (USD 500 million ) to develop cement Plant in Tuban, East Java by 2009, with annual production capacity 1,5 million ton.

Timothy D Mackay, President Director PT Holcim Indonesia (04/10) said with new cement plant, Holcim annual production capacity in Indonesia would be 9,4 million ton increase from present capacity that 7,9 million ton.

Timothy further said that the plant development aimed to anticipate increasing cement demand in next two-three year.

Based on data released by Indonesia Cement Association (ASI), growth forecast for Indonesian domestic consumption in 2008 around 6%, as an impact of increasing property and housing projects.

Indonesia cement consumption rose by 6,6% from 32,056 million ton in 2006 to 34,17 million ton in 2007.
