Car Market Jump Up, Though Price Getting Expensive

Though production cost in automotive industry jump up causing by the raise of all basic material for component parts production but domestic car sales in April forecast will reach new record.

In April, automotive product market absorp volume most certainly will be over 50.000 unit, 7% increase compare with previous month that booked 46.714 unit. If compare with same period in previous year that were 38.343 unit, the increase more higher that is 30.5%.

April sales figure also still higher compare with monthly performance during Q1 2008, which is the highest sales figure were 47.503 unit in February.

And if refer to Gaikindo monthly sales performance in 2007, the highest car sales figure were 45.827 unit in November.

Besides, early this year almost all ATPM (brand holding sole agents) had raise sale price about 3%-5% as an adjustment toward production cost jump caused by expensive basic material such as steel, aluminium, cooper, plastic and rubber.

Even, since world oil price had reach over USD 100 per barrel, Some ATPM had revise the price.

Johnny Darmawan Vice Chairman Gaikindo said bemused by car demand jump up phenomenon.

Johnny point out two factors which causing the phenomena. First, consumer hurried up car purchase as an anticipation toward possible price rise which caused by production cost hike.
Second, performance in mining and plantation sector getting increase then boost commercial vehicle demand such as pick up and truck.
