Demand for Foreign Currency Loan Rise

Indonesian central bank (BI) data shows that during first quarter 2008,  amount of bank’s foreign currency denominated outstanding loan were IDR 205.2 trillion meanwhile foreign currency savings were IDR 276.65 trillion.

BI data also shows growth of foreign currency loan in Q1-2008 had reach 27,5% in March, meanwhile third party foreign currency savings had reach 21,9%.

Bank Central Asia (BCA) Vice President Director Jahja Setiadmadja said increase demand for foreign currency loan triggered by foreign currency financing needs and low interest loan.

In BCA, foreign currency average loan interest rate 6%-7%, while foreign currency average saving interest rate about 3%.
